Medicines Values Assessment

LA-SER’s Strategy Consulting unit offers world-class drug and medicines value assessment, through a unique combination of scientific expertise, public health knowledge and high market access proficiency. This distinctive capability allows us to develop a comprehensive view of the value of medicines, throughout the life cycle of products, from early stage development,  to reimbursement negotiations and post launch. Central to our approach, is an extensive, four-factor, analysis model, of our design, based on all interrelated areas.

Drug Value AssessmentDrug value assessment

Consecutively assesses and combines the clinical benefit expected from the real-life use of a new product (medicines or medical devices), the benefit-harm trade-off with other options, and the unmet needs, as expressed by payers, physicians and patients to build an in-depth understanding of the prospective effects of the new product.

Target populations

In-depth analysis of target populations looks at identifying subpopulations with an unmet need that can be addressed by the new product.

Economic assessment

The product’s therapeutic value in targeted patients is devised and key parameters affecting cost-effectiveness and budget impact are highlighted.

Evidence development

The clinical development programme is reviewed, whilst required adjustments are made to ensure that the right evidence is efficiently generated, across a combination of clinical trials and observational studies.

LA-SER’s Strategy Consulting unit works closely with the scientific teams and networks:

  • Pharmacoepidemiologists, biostatisticians, pharmacists, physicians and pharmacologists provide expert scientific input and rigorous analysis of available evidence.
  • Health economists conduct cost-effectiveness modelling, cost-utility and budget impact analyses.
  • Excellent working relations with the International Payer Advisory Board and multiple international scientific boards for each major therapy area.
  • New evidence generation and drug use data, gathered through analysis of in-house patient databases and electronic healthcare databases, across Europe and North America.
  • LA-SER’s centre for patient reported outcomes leverages advanced psychometrics for survey design, expertise in quality of life and other health outcome instruments, and in-house highly trained interview staff.

LA-SER has performed drug value assessments and provided recommendation and consulting on the development of successful market access strategies across many therapy areas, including: atrial fibrillation, vaccines, CML, schizophrenia, prostate cancer, and COPD.
