Lucien Abenhaim, MD, MSc, PhD
Chairman and International Scientific Director
Lucien founded LA-SER in 2004 after a career in academia, in regulatory bodies and in public health. He started his career in academia and was a professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he was in charge of the pharmacoepidemiology education programme (1988–1999) and held several other academic senior positions. He was an expert for numerous regulatory agencies, including EMA and the FDA. He served as the General Director of Health (Chief Medical Officer/head of all health organisations) for the French Ministry of Health (1999–2003) and as a member of the Executive Council of the World Health Organisation (2001–2003). He is presently an Honorary professor of epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Lamiae Grimaldi-Bensouda, PharmD, MSc, PhD
International Scientific Vice-President of LA-SER
Lamiae is head of the PGRx (Pharmacoepidemiology General Research eXtension) programme and of the Risk Management Init.
Before joining LA-SER in 2006, Lamiae established a clinical and academic career as chief resident in clinical pharmacology at the Tours University Hospital (France). In addition to a PharmD, Lamiae holds both an MSc degree in clinical pharmacology and a PhD with a major in pharmacoepidemiology. Lamiae is also a fellow of the Pasteur Institute.
Andre Haik, MA
Chief Executive Officer, LA-SER Europe
Following his completion of training in finance and business administration, Andre Haik joined the Arthur Andersen corporate finance team, where he stayed for seven years. He worked also for five years in the pharmaceutical industry for a medium-sized laboratory as chief financial officer and head of business development, before becoming general manager of LA-SER.
Ralph Moussali, MSc
Sr Vice-President, Corporate Strategy and Operations
Ralph Moussalli joined LA-SER in February 2011. He previously held several senior positions in CROs and in the pharmaceutical industry. He was Vice President at i3, and worked at Orion Clinical Services, Fournier and Hoechst-Roussell. He has extensive experience in trial conduct, and has overseen clinical monitoring delivery in more than 50 countries.
Michel Rossignol, MD, FRCP©. MSc
Vice President Scientific, LA-SER CRR Canada
Michel works both with the LASER Centre for risk research in Montreal (since 2005) and with a Quebec public health organisation. He is an associate professor of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Occupational Health from McGill University. His main area of expertise is clinical epidemiology.
Tam Dang-Tan, MSc, PhD
General Manager, LA-SER CRR Canada
Tam holds a PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Occupational Health from McGill University. He worked in large organisations in the public, private and academic health sectors in Canada. His research experience encompasses oncology, chronic pulmonary diseases, infectious diseases, quality of care assessment, health outcomes research, health system management, and large national databases.
Mary New, MA, PhD, MBA
Head of Strategy Consulting, LA-SER Europe
Mary holds a DPhil (doctorate) in atomic physics from Oxford University and an MBA from Cambridge University. She worked in medical device development for the healthcare sector before joining McKinsey & Company in London as a strategy consultant for the pharmaceutical industry. More recently she held a global strategy position with Pfizer. At LA-SER she is responsible for a team of market access consultants who provide drug value assessment and market access strategic advice to pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
Bernard Avouac, MD
Head of Market Access Strategy, LA-SER Europe
Bernard joined LA-SER France full time since 2009, after being a consultant in market access and reimbursement for the company for several years. Earlier in his career he worked as a Consultant rheumatologist at the Hospital Henri Mondor (Creteil — France).
Eric Mertz, MA
Global Head of Business Development, LA-SER Europe in London
Eric is responsible for driving sales growth for LA-SER through selection, management and development of the sales team.
Prior to joining LA-SER Eric served as Executive Sales Director for Europe at i3, a global CRO organisation, with over 200 customers in 22 countries. He spent seven years at i3 where he contributed to the European growth of i3 Research through the implementation of strategic sales and marketing plans.
Eric holds a postgraduate degree from the ESC business school (Montpellier — France).
